Mar 20, adding it would be provided to Tehran subscribers first
Hassan Razavi, in conversation with MOBNA, said SaIran Co, who as GPRS contractor was to have installed and run such service in 3 months, has fulfilled its task and the service is now undergoing final test.
He added GPRS would then be provided to subscribers in Tehran and later to other subscribers across the country.
GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) enables mobile phone users to connect to the internet and use any internet service via mobile phone.
The service is part of technologies that aim to bring closer 2G mobile phone network to 3G networks so that they may send/receive data much faster.
The MTC chief had earlier pledged the service would be extended to subscribers country-wide 2 to 5 months after it had been provided to subscribers in Tehran.
