The source, who did not wish to be named, told MOBNA a committee comprising RCRO, Mobile Telecommunications Co and Iran Telecom are reviewing 1st Operator SMS tariff.
He indicated no decision has been made on the issue, but there have been some suggestions.
The source added the Committee’s recommendation will later be submitted to the Regulations Committee.
According to MOBNA, the General Inspectorate, for the past six months, has insisted on reduction of the tariff, but the recommendation has been unheeded as some argue that the reduction will affect the projected figure in this year’s Budget.
It is believed the domestic operators’ resistance to lowering Payamac tariff has caused some foreign companies to come forward and offer the service at cheaper rate.
The current SMS tariff is at least 142 Rial.
