“To deal with those who by sms messages or emails encourage the public to take part in unlawful demonstrations or to insult religious values – as demonstrated on Ushura – has now been entrusted to the police force and the judiciary,” Ismael Ahmadi Moghaddam said at a police gathering on how to deal with drug trafficking.
“Emails and sms messages are quite under our control and those who organize unlawful demonstrations are particularly committing greater crime and they should be under no illusion that with anti-proxies and other methods they could get away with it,” he added.
About 46 million citizens daily send up to 50 million sms message.
The country’s internet users are estimated at around 26 million.
