“Postal tariffs have been lifted. The most important issue in the targeted subsidies act was revision of postal tariffs which was approved by Parliament on Oct 21 so that the Post Office could be changed into an economic enterprise,”
Ali-Asghar YousefNejad told Mobna news agency.
“Revision of telecommunication tariffs has been predicted in the targeted subsidies bill which will be put on Parliament agenda after its 10-day recess,” he said.
On the basis of the act, which has been approved by Parliament, the government is required to adjust postal service rates by the end of the Fifth Economic Development Plan.
The act means revising the third term of the plan, according to which the government was obliged to implement postal rates to what they were before September 2004.
The Post Office has exceeded the rate by 40% since 2004 and despite complaints by private operators and Post Office customers the procedure continues.
