Customs Office revenue from mobile import shrinks

“At present, most mobile sets are imported illegally and that is damaging to Government,” Reza Jomhouri told Mobna news agency.
“Mobile set smuggling has increased because of high import tariff and lack of police control. The commodity is imported illegally through the borders, causing Customs Office revenue to decrease dramatically,” he added.
Since 2006, when mobile set import tariff was increased from 4% to 60% and was lowered to 25% two years later, the mobile market has been besieged by smuggled sets.
About 95% of the market is currently owned by illegal importers.
