“No approval has been announced by Parliament on such increase and at present time there is no need for an increase,” Ali Motahhari told Mobna news agency.
“If the government intends to increase the tariff, it should present a bill to Parliament and so far no such bill has been presented,” he said.
“The increase in landline and mobile phone tariffs should not be used for increasing Telecommunication Company of Iran revenue but the resulting new services should bring income to the company,” he added.
However, no telecommunication rate has been changed in the past six years.
On the basis of Third Economic Development Plan and Parliament approval, each year the call tariff has to be increased by 10 percent.
