Sim card retailer in south Tehran, Ali Heidari, told Mobna news agency that the increase in demand and the ensuing shortage of the sim card has resulted in a 150,000 rial increase in its price.
He said MCI code 6 sim card, which until recently was sold at 3,750,000 rials, is now sold at 3,900,000 rials while the prices of other sim cards have remained unchanged.
Currently, new MCI postpaid sim cards for codes 2 and 3 are sold at 5.200 and 4.25 million rials respectively.
New MCI code 4 sim card is purchased at 3.1 and sold at 3.2 million rials.
New MCI sim cards for codes 5, 7 and 8 are sold at 3.3, 3.6, 3.1 and 2.8 million rials respectively.
However, used MCI sim cards for codes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are sold at 5.5, 3.8, 3.25, 2.35, 2.3, 2.15, 2.1 and 1.9 million rials respectively.
Taliya sim cards are sold at 500,000 and 200,000 rials depending on their initial charge.
IranCell prepaid, postpaid and sms sim cards are sold at 100,000, 1,500,000 and 50,000 rials respectively.
