The increase in demand for MCI prepaid sim card has been at the expense of company’s postpaid sim card market which is experiencing recession.
Retailers expect the postpaid sim card market trend to continue until the end of the Iranian year (Mar 20, 2009).
Currently, new MCI postpaid sim cards for codes 2 and 3 are sold at 5.45 and 4.35 million rials respectively.
New MCI sim card for code 4 is purchased at 3.2 million rials and sold 100,000 rials higher.
New MCI sim cards for codes 5, 6, 7 and 8 are sold at 3.4, 3.15, 3.1 and 2.7 million rials respectively.
Used MCI sim cards, however, for codes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are sold at 5.5, 3.75, 3.1, 2.25, 2.35, 2.2, 2.15 and 2.15 million rials respectively.
MCI’s 0919 prepaid sim card is sold at 150,000 rials.
Taliya sim cards are sold at 500,000 and 200,000 rials depending on their initial charge.
IranCell prepaid, postpaid and sms sim cards are sold at 100,000, 1,500,000 and 50,000 rials respectively.
