“MCI had initially intended GPRS for its postpaid sim card subscribers as special privilege,” Hamid-Reza Nikoufar told Irans mobile news agency (Mobna).
He said the company usually offers its new services to postpaid sim card subscribers and extends them to other subscribers after the service has been tried out successfully.
He said the network is now ready to provide mms and GPRS services to those who had applied for them.
MCI has over 27 million subscribers and its GPRS service was launched last November.
GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) makes possible connection to the internet via mobile phone.
The period 8am-11pm is GPRS’s peak-time and 11pm-8am is termed off-peak.
The tariffs for peak and off-peak times are 8.14 and 4 rials respectively, and the service charge is printed on the phone bill.
