The company has decided to disable the connection of its subscribers sim card whose ownerships have not been registered in MTN – Irancell network, due to the lack of proper ownership documentation.
Disabling Irancell subscribers connection that has started as of 13 December will continue for the next months.
The company aims to eradicate prank calls which are made through its non-registered sim cards.
It is said that more than two million active Irancell sim cards are without proper owner information are active in the companys network that has led to prank calls proliferation in Iran.
Awhile age RCRO head set a deadline that Irancell has to disable sim cards without ownership document by the end of this Iranian year (March 2009).
The organization also announced that telecommunication ministrys regulatory body sternly warned that Irancell should deal with prank calls which are made via its sim cards.
RCRO head Mahmoud Khosravi said that Irancell sim cards should not be sold without registering buyers information and previous sim cards users information should be determined by March 2009.
Foreign operator MTN – Irancell has about 15 million subscribers that 98 percent of them are prepaid sim cards subscribers.
