“Mobile set import tariff should, as before, be reduced to four percent otherwise its market will remain in control of unauthorized importers,” he added.
“Before tariff was raised from four to 60 percent, smuggling was negligible because it was not profitable, but the failure by domestic manufacturers to produce mobile sets and the increase in import tariff has resulted in over 80 percent of the market being overwhelmed by smuggled sets,” he concluded.
