Laying cables under seabed costs over $5m

“It requires a special technology which varies with the depth of the seabed,” Gholamreza Keshtgar told Mobna news agency.
“For laying fiber optic cables under deep seabed we need special equipment that will also monitor the process. The Iran-Kuwait cable has been laid along 1,500km seashore,” he added.
Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait are countries that have lately established a fiber optic link with Iran and talks are under way for similar links with Pakistan and Oman.
