MCI prepaid sim card subscribers overtake postpaid: MCI managing director

“After evaluation of several indices by MCI, 5 provinces have been selected as top in mobile phone field in last year operation,” he said.
“Development and maintenance of mobile phone network and improving the service quality of the network were among indices reviewed in the evaluation,” he added.
“Fars, Gilan, Markazi and Semnan provinces ranked 2nd to 5th respectively in this evaluation,” he said.
“In the first 6 months of current Iranian year, Qom Province again ranks first. Hamedan Province had the most growth in this period,” he added.
“During this period, Esfehan, Semnan and Fars provinces ranked 1st to 3rd in terms of mobile phone penetration rate,” he said.
“There are at present over 18,000 active mobile phone sites countrywide,” Sadoughi said.
“About 40,000 kilometers of country roads and over 35,000 villages are now under MCI mobile phone network coverage,” he added.
“MCI ranks first in the Middle East in terms of postpaid sim card subscribers and 11th in the world. Among over 700 active world operators, MCI ranks 25th in terms of total no of subscribers,” he said.
