“MCI’s mms service has no bearing on its GPRS service, and the mms regulation applies to all mobile phone operators alike,” Lotfollah Sabouhi told Mobna news agency.
He said MCI has so far made no request to RCRO for permission to provide mms service and RCRO’s tends not to interfere in operators affairs.
RCRO is Irans telecommunication ministrys body which sets regulation and issues license for the operation of phone companies.
GPRS and mms services were first presented by IranCell some two years ago, but RCRO stopped the mms service for up to 3 months for its regulation to be compiled, but after 17 months the service has resumed.
The mms service tariff is 1,000 rials per message.
