Alireza Ranjbar, in conversation with MOBNA, indicated that, despite public’s belief, the smugglers will continue importing un-guaranteed handsets after the imposition of the 10% tariff.
He said the market’s current price fall is mainly due to fall in demands, and not to new tariff.
He remarked that more that 80% of the market is now controlled by smugglers.
However, most experts believe the new tariff will reduce the smugglers’ activities by 20- 30%, which will, in turn, lead to overall price reduction.
Modiran has sold different models of LG handsets since last March, which amounts to 3-5% of the total mobile handset market.
