“At the end of last Iranian year (beginning of March 2008) commerce ministrys article one commission suggested 10 percent tariff instead of the current 25 percent mobile phone import tariff,” Mahdi Ghazanfari told Mobna news agency.
“But telecommunications committee which comprises of four ministers has not accepted this suggestion yet,” he added.
“Article one commission members can only propose commodities tariff and do not have any other responsibility,” he added.
“Also Commerce ministry does not have right to change tariff by itself, since other ministers opinions are crucial,” he said.
“Decreasing mobile sets import tariff is possible but no time frame has been set,” Ghazanfari said.
